FAI Researchers Featured in Science News
Four FAI-sponsored investigators are interviewed in “Little by Little,” an article in the September 12th issue of Science News, which focuses on new research strategies for food allergy. The article, by Laura Beil, provides an excellent overview of the immune response in food allergies, and looks at potential therapies. Among the scientists who shed light on the subject are Drs. Wesley Burks, Andrew Saxon, Scott Sicherer, and Robert Wood. In addition, Marie-Helene Jouvin of Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center talks about an experimental treatment that uses the eggs of the helminth, a type of worm, to manage the symptoms of food allergy. FAI is funding a pilot study in this area, conducted by Dr. Jouvin’s colleague, Jean-Pierre Kinet, MD.
